COPA AMERICA 2020 : 12 June - 12 July 2020

 

For the first time in history Australia has been invited to compete in the Copa America and in 2020 it will be held in Colombia and Argentina.

 

The top 10 teams from the CONMEBOL, including world heavyweights Brazil and Argentina, will compete for the title along with the invited nations Australia and Qatar. Australia has been drawn into Group A - South Zone with Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Sunday 14 June, 2020

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to our hotel Argenta Tower (or similar) where we will spend the first four nights of the tour.

 

Monday 15 June, 2020

Today we have a half day combined coach and walking guided tour of Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital and home to 15 million people. “The Paris of the Americas” will truly inspire, with its wide-open boulevards, spacious grandeur and breath-taking energy, we’ll show you the sights of this great city, including Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada, and the vibrant areas of La Boca and Recoleta,  This evening we have our welcome dinner at the famous steakhouse Cabana Las Lilas.

 

Tuesday 16 June, 2020

Today is free at your leisure to explore this amazing city. Perhaps a visit to the Palermo neighbourhood, full of bars, cafes and boutique stores. Or sit back, relax and watch the other Copa America 2020 Group Stage matches.

 

Wednesday 17 June, 2020 – Paraguay vs. Australia

The first match of our tour sees the Socceroos take on Paraguay at Estadio la Plata in Buenos Aires. Drinks and snacks pre-game and the return transfers are included to get us to and from the match.

 

Thursday 18 June, 2020

An early start today as we transfer to the airport for our flight to Puerto Iguazu. On arrival we’ll transfer to our hotel the Panoramic Grand Iguazu (or similar), where we’ll spend the next two nights. The rest of the afternoon is at free at your leisure to take in views of Iguazu from our hotel or explore the town at your leisure.

 

Friday 19 June, 2020

After breakfast we’ll depart on a full day tour of the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls, located inside the Iguazu National Park and declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984. The tour commences with a train trip to Estacion Cateratas for the best views of the Falls. Included is a jeep safari that takes us to our boat trip into the plume of the Falls.

Saturday 20 June, 2020

This morning we’ll be crossing the border into Brazil for a half day coach and walking tour, and the walkways and panoramic view of all 275 cascades. Return to Puerto Iguazu airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires and our hotel Argenta Tower (or similar) where we’ll have the next three nights. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.

 

Sunday 21 June, 2020

An early breakfast before our ferry across Rio de La Plata, one of the widest estuaries in the world, to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. We’ll have a walking tour exploring the cobblestone streets and colonial architecture of this beautifully preserved World Heritage site before our evening ferry back to Buenos Aires.

 

Monday 22 June, 2020 – Australia vs. Bolivia

The next match on our tour sees the Socceroos take on Bolivia, again at Estadio la Plata in Buenos Aires. Pre-match drinks and snacks before our return transfers to get us to and from the match.

 

Tuesday 23 June, 2020

After breakfast we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight to El Calafate (commonly referred to as Patagonia), where we’ll spend the next two nights at our hotel Mirador del Lago (or similar).

 

Wednesday 24 June, 2020

Today we’ll depart on a full day tour of Perito Moreno Glacier, one of Argentina’s most impressive destinations. Descending into the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, this World Heritage Site is an imposing ice river 5km wide and up to 60 metres high and depths of 350 metres. We’ll explore the walkways that follow the glacier’s western wall and the awesome views of this natural wonder.

 

Thursday 25 June, 2020

This morning we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires and our hotel Argenta Tower (or similar). The rest of the afternoon is free at your leisure.

 

Friday 26 June, 2020 – Australia vs. Argentina

Today is the last match of our tour and it’s the big one, Australia vs. Argentina. How will the Socceroos fare against the host nation and six-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi? The imposing fortress of Estadio Alberto J Armando (commonly referred to as La Bombonera) and the passionate supporters of the Albicelestes (sky blue and whites), will be a highlight for all of us. Pre match drinks to settle the nerves.

 

After the match we will transfer back to the hotel, collect our bags and go straight to the airport for our flights back to Australia. Or for those continuing with the post tour module, or those wishing to extend, another night in Buenos Aires.

Thursday 11 June, 2020

A full day free at your leisure to explore this incredible city. Maybe a visit to La Boca, known for its colourful houses and street performers. Neighbouring Puerto Madero has many elegant restaurants for a meal at sunset.

 

Friday 12 June, 2020

An early start with a transfer to the airport for our flight to Cordoba. On arrival transfer to our hotel NH Panorama Hotel (or similar) for the next two nights.

 

Saturday 13 June, 2020 – Australia vs. Uruguay

The first match of the tour and the Socceroos are taking on Uruguay at

Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes. Pre match drinks and return transfers are included from our hotel.

 

Sunday 14 June, 2020

Transfer to the airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires and begin the main tour.

Monday 29 June, 2020

An early start with a transfer to the airport for our flight to Cordoba. On arrival transfer to our hotel NH Panorama Hotel (or similar) for the next two nights.

 

Tuesday 30 June, 2020 – Chile vs. Australia

The last group stage match for Australia and the last of our tour, Chile vs. Australia at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes. Return transfers are included from our hotel.

 

Wednesday 1 July, 2020

Today we’ll check-out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires which is included, and connections back to Australia.

  • We recommend that you check with your doctor as immunisations & medications may be applicable.

  • Currently Australian passport holders do not need a tourist visa for Argentina, Brazil or Uruguay.
