PYRENEES STAGES : 2 - 6 July, 2020

Tour Itinerary

Thursday 2 July, 2020 - arrival day
Please arrange your own flight to Toulouse. There are numerous airlines that fly into Toulouse airport (book early to take advantage of cheap flights). We will meet you on arrival and take you to the 3 star Hotel Carre Py in Bagneres de Bigorre at the foot of the Col du Tourmalet. You can use the time today to unpack your bike from its box as during the tour when required we are transporting your bike fully assembled.

Please note that we will run one airport transfer which will leave Toulouse at 13.00 to ensure that we are in time to check in, get bikes prepared and be in time for the evening meal so please ensure that you allow time to clear immigration & collect your baggage to arrive there in time. It's a 2 hour transfer so if you are not there on time, we can't provide alternative transport unfortunately.

If you have rented a bike with us then it will be available for you at the hotel this evening. Please note that you need to bring your own shoes, pedals, helmet and cycling clothing.

During this evening's meal we will take the opportunity to go through the programme of the days to come. This is also a good opportunity to get to know your fellow group members.

Friday 3 July, 2020 - Tourmalet day
After breakfast at the hotel, we have a great day on the programme. We will tackle some great climbs in the area including the Col de Tourmalet. Evening meal is provided at the Hotel.

Saturday 4 July, 2020 - Cazères-sur-Garonne > Loudenvielle - Stage 8 - 140 km - Mountain
The first Pyrenees stage was designed on a course that will be both dynamic and demanding. In less than 100 kilometres, the riders will have to reach the Col de Menté followed by the Port de Balès and the Col de Peyresourde. The descent could then make the difference as it's around ten kilometres to the finish. Our location in Bagneres de Bigorre is excellent for accessing the stage finish.

For the cyclists
We have a treat in store for you today. The cyclists can join us for our 'cross the finish line' VIP experience. We will ride on the very roads that the peloton will ride on just hours later. After you have crossed the official finish line on we will all have our photos taken on the winners podium. After this we will have time to get changed at the hotel and we will wait for the riders to arrive.

Your day includes:

  • The support of the Sports Tours International team and support vehicle

  • Cycle the final portion of the stage along the same route as the pros just hours later

  • Crossing the finish line on your bike

  • A photo on the top step of the official podium

  • The evening meal is available at the hotel on return.

Sunday 5 July, 2020 - Pau > Laruns - Stage 9 - 154 km - Mountain
The mountainous program of the day starts with the discovery of the Col de la Hourcère which will immediately precede the climb to the Col de Soudet. For the seventh time since the beginning of the Tour, the riders will ride at an altitude of over 1,500m. They will then battle it out on the extremely steep climb up to the Col de Marie Blanque before heading back down to Laruns.

Relais Etape We will have access to the The Relais Etape. A hospitality area which takes the form of a small village in a prime position along the route, just a few kilometres from the finish line of the stage.
